Opportunity Codes
Use the Opportunity Codes function to set up the code descriptions you assign to opportunities. Examples of opportunity codes can include terms (Firm, Weak, Excellent, Poor, and so on) and probability percentages (10%, 50%, 90%, and so on).
You can set up three types of opportunity codes:
- Status codes describe the opportunity's status. Examples are New, Closed, On Hold, and so on.
- Probability codes describe the likelihood of success for the opportunity. Examples are terms (Poor, Fair, Good, Excellent) or temperature or color codes (Cold, Lukewarm, Hot, or Blue, Green, Yellow, Red) and percentages (10%, 50%, and so on).
- Resolution codes describe how the opportunity was resolved. Examples include Good Sale, Lost to Competition, Difficult Deal, and so on.
Creating an Opportunity Code
- Select the tab for which you want to enter an opportunity code.
- Click the New button, on the toolbar, to open a blank record.
- Select the appropriate tab for the opportunity. Enter a description of the opportunity code in the Description field.
Note: If you select the Probability Code tab, you must also enter a probability percentage in the Percentage field. - Click the Save button, on the toolbar, to save the new opportunity code.
Editing an Opportunity Code
- Select an opportunity code to edit from the Description field on the applicable tab.
- Edit the fields as necessary.
- Click the Save button, on the toolbar, to save the edited opportunity code.
Deleting an Opportunity Code
- Select an opportunity code to delete from the Description field on the applicable tab.
- Click the Delete button, on the toolbar, to delete the selected opportunity code.
- Click Yes at the "Are you sure you want to delete selected record(s)?" prompt.
Produce an Opportunity Codes List
Print the Opportunity Codes List to view and verify the opportunity codes you entered in the Setup and Maintenance Opportunity Codes function.
- Select the print preview button (
) to preview the list.
- The preview report screen appears.
- Select the print button (
) in the toolbar to print your list.
